Welcome to
Paediatric Play

Paediatric Play is a mobile service provider across South Australia. Paediatric Play’s mission is to offer services to clients (2-17 years) and families in their natural environment, like their home, Montessori, early learning centre, preschool, and school.

Our team of highly trained therapists come to you in home, avoiding the burden of travel and or juggling other children or family members, also providing an environment that is familiar and functional.

Paediatric Play believes that every child is unique. We use a child-focused and family-centred approach that empowers children and their families to thrive and achieve their greatest potential.

Occupational Therapy supports children to build on their strengths, enables children to participate in activities (occupations) they find meaningful and bridge the gaps in their development so they can participate in activities with confidence and motivation.

Paediatric occupational therapist work with children to support them with their life occupations. For children, their life is made up of “occupations”, or daily activities, these include learning, playing, socialising and self care activities (dressing, toileting showering) to facilitate social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Speech pathologists’ study, diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speaking, listening, understanding language, reading, writing, social skills, stuttering and using voice. They work with people who have difficulty communicating because of developmental delays, stroke, brain injuries, learning disability, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, dementia and hearing loss, as well as other problems that can affect speech and language. People who experience difficulties swallowing food and drink safely can also be helped by a speech pathologist.

Developmental educators collaborate with people with disability to promote inclusion and address attitudinal and environmental barriers. They do so by employing a range of professional and technical skills including applying developmental, behavioural, learning and social theories, and assessing the person and their environment.

The Paediatric Play team works with children who experience emotional and social challengers, in addition to developmental or physical disabilities. A child s environment can play a factor within a child occupation; therefore, the Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model/frame of reference is the centre within Paediatric Play’s clinical reasoning and approach

The Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model is a model that emphasizes occupational performance shaped by the interaction between person, environment, and occupation.

Paediatric Play services include home, education institution or community options. All services follow a developmental approach encompassing the child goals, concerns ensuring planned therapy sessions with short term objectives and short and long-term development goals.
