Do I need a referral for an Allied Health Therapy initial assessment?No, a referral is not required. Clients can be referred by a general practitioner, paediatrician, school teacher or educator.

What are the steps within the Paediatric play process?The steps are the following 1. Referral and liaising with parents, carers and educators regarding the child’s difficulties and underlying concerns. 2. Phone Call Consult: Designated therapist will contact the caregiver regarding concerns, goals, challenges and ongoing plan for a Face-Face Assessment and Therapy. 3. Setting up an initial assessment time, additionally emailing a service agreement and consent form. 4. Initial assessment (in-clinic or home): Rapport with the client and parents, discussing concerns, observations and implementing standardised (formal) and non- standardised assessment tools. 5. Assessment report (subject to consent): collected information gathered via parents, referral form and concerns. Additionally, assessment data following recommendations based on the child’s age development. 6. Allied Health Therapy treatment session: If treatment is recommended the therapist will recommend either weekly, fortnightly or monthly 45-50 minutes in-clinic or community sessions.

What can I expect in an assessment and assessment report?The initial assessment is based on the client’s referral, concerns, strengths and challenges. Paediatric Play assessment report encompasses all observations, assessment data and recommendations. Reports are emailed within 14 days to the family member.

What can I expect in an Allied Health Therapy treatment session?Paediatric play focuses strongly on clinical reasoning, skill level, progression and focusing on the needs of the client and family. Community therapy sessions: feedback is provided and homework via email or letter post sessions and how to practice these at home.

How long will each Allied Health Therapy treatment last?Therapy sessions are booked in 45-50min time slots. Pre- session preparation is required (15 minutes) and post-session notes and handover (15 minutes)

What is the cost of each session?Costs of each session are divided into two categories, Private and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Each Allied Health Service is prices according to the NDIS Item Fee. Please call Paediatric Play on (08) 8318 1444 to discuss what options are available.

Does a Paediatric Play Allied Health Therapist travel to my child's learning facility for observations and recommendation?Yes, one of our therapists will travel to a location of your choosing and work with client there. Whether it be you’re at school, home or community facility. An Allied Health Therapist will provide recommendations and resources to the educator, teacher, carer or student support officer (SSO).
