Sam

Director and Senior Occupational Therapist

Born in South Australia, Sam graduated from The University of South Australia and has followed his dream and passion to work with children with disabilities. Sam has worked as a registered Occupational Therapist, specialising in paediatrics, hospital setting, aged care, and acute care.

Sam is passionate about early intervention for children and has witnessed this through the clients he works with. Sam has a passion and a strong interest in paediatrics, with a particular focus on Autism, ADHD, and other disabilities. He has extensive experience working with different age groups from young children, adolescents and adults with gross/fine motor, self-care, executive functioning, and sensory processing challengers.

The incredible and self-rewarding experience working within an early intervention paediatrics setting has taught Sam the importance about a child’s developmental milestones, occupational performance challengers, their needs and wants.

When Sam is not working, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, going for runs & training, playing with his dog and social outings with his friends.

Sam says ‘The smallest goals are the biggest achievements’

Ashleigh

Developmental Educator and Allied Health Assistant

Hi, my name is Ashleigh and I have had the privilege of working within the disability sector, within several roles for over 7 years. My roles over this time were to offer a variety of support, both emotional, developmental and behaviour, which allowed me to grow my expertise within these areas. While working within this role, I undertook and graduated from my Bachelor and Disability and Developmental Education from Flinders University. Furthermore, due to my joy and passion I experienced everyday while working with these young children, I decided this year to further develop my skillset and undertake my Diploma in Therapeutic Play Therapy. This further study will assist me in providing more advanced emotional support for my clients and assist them in understanding, exploring and regulation their own feelings and thoughts.

The reasons I chose to work for Paediatric Play as a Developmental Educator & Allied Health Assistant, is due to my passion and rewarding opportunities that exist within this area of helping children reach their full potential, as they continue to grow and develop as young people. Outside of work, I like to hang out with my friends, family, and pets. I have a dog (Border Collie cross Mastiff) called Bella, and she is an escape artist and often keeps me and my Fiancé on our toes. My other animal is Casper, and he is a very sleepy and chill white cat. I often like to sit with Bella on my porch and watch the gumtrees, with Casper looking out from the window in envy, finding anytime I can relax from my busy schedule

Giorgia and Lyla

Giorgia is the head of the admin team. Giorgia is behind all the scenes but makes a huge different at Paediatric Play. Giorgia organises, filing and scheduling, payroll, plan weekly meetings, schedule conference calls, and work on solving administrative related concerns and issues.

Lyla is one of our therapy dogs. While she is not in the clinic entertaining the children, she is enjoying lots of cuddles and biscuits.

FUN FACT: Lyla is permanently blind

Georgia

Allied Health Assistant

Hi, my name is Georgia and I have worked in the disability field for 2 years now. I began providing tutoring services for a young person with a disability, and then moved into a support worker role where I cared for medically complex or neurodivergent young people. I am currently completing my bachelor’s degree of health sciences with a Master of Occupational Therapy at flinders university.

I am very passionate about working with children and I find it such a rewarding position to be able to play a role in helping children succeed in their own ways. Outside of work, I play and coach netball, spend a lot of time with friends, and in summer I love to go paddleboarding! I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge at Paediatric Play while I work through my degree to becoming an OT!

Robyn

Occupational Therapist

Hi, my name is Robyn. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist and Educator with valuable experience working in early intervention and school environments. My understanding of children’s development from an Occupational Therapy and education perspective provides me with specialised insight to assist children in a holistic manner.

Having worked as an Occupational Therapist in paediatrics and aged care, I have refined my clinical skills, highlighting the importance of client-centred care to achieve the best possible outcomes. It has also afforded me to opportunity to work with a wide range of health conditions.

I am inspired to work with children, having observed and being motivated by the impact of early intervention on achieving goals. I have a thorough understanding into cognitive, physical and sensory issues of children with additional needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am passionate about helping children to develop skills meaningful to their lives- including fine motor, gross motor, self-help, social and play skills. I enjoy developing my own therapeutic knowledge to assist me in being the best therapist I can.

Family time is very important to me- I am lucky to have two young children who, along with my husband, I enjoy spending my downtime with. I often find myself at the library with my children- it is a happy place for us all! I also love going to see the latest movies, as well as being creative through crafting and baking to relax.

I feel extremely fortunate to be able to work with children as an Occupational Therapist, being able to shape and have a positive impact on young lives!
